I've led both parenting & sexuality education groups, & I have additional training and experience in LGBT issues and trauma-related issues. My prior experience includes: developmental therapy with preschool children, home-based support for children and families, & individual therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. She is the Director of Education for the Coyote Institute in Orono and has a part-time private practice with Dr. in documentary film making through York University, Toronto. Currently, she has almost completed her M.F.A. She has written a book with Lewis Mehl-Madrona, entitled Remapping Your Mind: the Neuroscience of Self-Transformation through Story. She is the author of a number of papers on health care with aboriginal people and on psychotherapy and psychosis and on chronic pain. She enjoys group therapy and group medical visits. Her interests include doing psychotherapy with people who have been diagnosed as psychotic, working with people who are having chronic pain, and exploring the interface between art and psychotherapy and healing. She has worked in primary care settings as a behavioral health clinician and as a psychotherapist. She is certified in hypnosis and has taught hypnosis for the American Psychiatric Association, the New England Society for Clinical Hypnosis, and other organizations. from the University of Maine and works as a psychotherapist at Cornerstone Behavioral Health in Bangor, Maine. Prior to that, she had worked as an artist and an artist in residence in the mental health system for a number of years. I have worked for Cornerstone Behavioral Healthcare in Bangor for 5 yearsīarbara studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Toronto and received her Master's degree in Creative Arts Psychotherapy at Concordia University in Montreal. I treat clients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders from depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, border line personality disorder and others. I work with clients ages 6 through geriatrics. My program for anxiety disorders is unique and the success rate is very high for those who go through my program to overcome anxiety and panic disorder. Two of my specialties are anxiety disorders and PTSD. I have also facilitated a DBT group in the past. My preference for modalities includes Person Centered, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral. As a therapist, I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I started as an intern at Cornerstone in 2014 and have stayed due to the company aligning with my passion to truly help others and the ethics they hold. I worked as a case manager prior to becoming a licensed therapist (LCPC), which allowed me to bring my knowledge to Cornerstone and serve as the Waterville location Case Management supervisor. I hold a Masters, Bachelors, and two Associate degrees. I have been in the healthcare field in one capacity or another for over 15 years.
